International Law and Politics

This area of law raises practical questions about the everyday consumption of goods and services, theoretical issues about the role of government regulation and contrasting visions of markets. Furthermore, consumer law provides an opportunity to analyse different forms of regulation in contemporary societies such as legal rules, codes of practice, administrative regulation and attempts to harness market incentives. This module is aimed at students who wish to have an understanding of substantive folderaccess.com law, policies and institutional framework concerning the regulation of consumer markets. This course will afford students the opportunity to explore the moral and ethical questions surrounding legal practice in both a theoretical and a practical way. Starting with some philosophical arguments about whether and how lawyers might have specifically moral responsibilities, they will then be equipped to test such arguments in the context of case studies from real legal practice.

Plans for bilateral agreement with the United States, India, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Switzerland will provide the focus of much discussion in this part. From a wider philosophical angle, the above will create scope for critical reflection on the idea of this ‘new age of bilateralism’ as a populist device. This module examines the impact of European integration on British politics, policymaking and political culture since the middle of the twentieth century. It starts from the premise that ‘the political’ is a site of contestation whose parameters are constantly being rearticulated by multiple cultural practices, including music. A range of methods can be adopted, including undertaking socio-legal research which may be empirical or normative and may focus on national law or extend to comparative and international legal perspectives.

Short and online courses

The module provides a legal and historical perspective on classic transitional justice dilemmas and looks at theoretical and concrete accommodations between notions of peace and justice in transitional societies. Critically, the module will examine transitional legal issues in a number of jurisdictions and look at the applicability of a number of central themes to the Northern Ireland transition. Land Law – This module provides students with the opportunity to study the key elements of land law in respect to both Northern Ireland and England and Wales. It will prepare students for further detailed study of property law at Level 6 and completion of this module and Introduction to Property Law will allow students to meet the requirements of the professional bodies in respect of property law in Northern Ireland, England and Wales.

The purpose of these Guidelines is to facilitate the proper conduct of clients’ cases and of projects. Students are expected to undertake, under supervision, legal work in one or more areas of law of relevance to the objects of the Clinic. A Supervisor will decide whether a student has undertaken sufficient substantial work for the purposes of this module. Students are required to carry out this work to the professional standards expected of paralegal staff employed by solicitors. These courses will provide you with the level of English needed to meet the conditions of your offer. The programme includes several employers, providing an insight into the legal profession and the relevant recruitment processes.
