Mountain Bike Travel Insurance

We have lots of information that can be put on this site, but this is hard to update when I am traveling or organizing tours.

  • The insurance for personal belongings, equipment and techno pack is only valid if you have insured the whole duration of each individual trip and starts when you depart from the UK.
  • 3rd time with Collett’s and absolutely no reason we won’t use them again.
  • You have opportunities to walk around the city, visit indigenous markets nearby and hike in the mountains.

And if there’s a 130mm travel fork up front, it’s ruled out. There are some outliers than we allow into the down-country fold. Otherwise the whole thing just gets far too close to a regular trail bike. So, no Norco Optic or Nukeproof Reactor 290c ST. Too trail-bikey.

Whats the difference between an XC bike and a down

Despite clearly being on the down-country bandwagon, the Stage Evo is unashamedly its own thing. Like all Oranges, it will either appeal a lot, or you won’t see the appeal at all. After day on one, we were definitely in the former camp. Many, many thanks for arranging our Arctic Adventure.

Both conditions are an emergency and can quickly result in death; descending to a lower altitude must be carried out immediately. If the signs of AMS are ignored and you continue to go higher, you are at risk of developing life threatening altitude sickness, High Altitude Cerebral Oedema and/or High Altitude Pulmonary Oedema . If you are climbing or trekking, then a slow, gradual ascent is advised. The best way to prevent AMS is to give your body enough time to acclimatise to being at a higher altitude.

This amazing two-day experience is bookended by stays in mountain towns and attractive cities . Gosh darn it, the new Transition Spur may well take the crown for the best looking down-country mountain bike. But beyond the sharp but friendly aesthetics there lies a very good example of a modern short travel mountain bike. The best-realised ‘down-country’ bike we’ve ever tested and the one we all covet if we were spending our own cash.

The Epic Evo takes the quintessential XC bike and puts it through boot camp to emerge faster and more capable than ever. There’s an extra 20mm travel up front compared to the Epic, which helps slacken the razor-sharp steering to make it less twitchy at high speeds. At the back there’s 10mm more travel, which helps with comfort and traction. The carbon frame is sleek with a classic shape and an excellent choice of sizes, so you can be sure to get the right fit. You’ll need tighter reins compared to a true down-country bike, but the Epic Evo is more than capable of winning on Sunday, shredding on Monday.

Thank you Ollie, Jo, Sandy and Flee for an amazing holiday. First time I’d used this type of holiday and was not disappointed. The walking was spectacular and the views amazing, even in the snow! Accommodation was spot on with great food and comfortable sleeping arrangements. Unbelievably thoughtful hosts in a delightful simple, quiet house, with exceptional food, not flashy or haute cuisine, but local and always interesting. Our comprehensive route notes and maps keep you nicely on the move between attractive villages.

You should have travel insurance that covers you for travelling to altitude. Your policy should have cover that includes medical evacuation and repatriation home if necessary. Since active people rarely confine themselves to a single discipline, our annual policies also include free winter sports cover. We worked with follow mountain bike enthusiasts and our cuctomers to design a travel insurance saklikentgorge.net product which fits the needs of mountain bikers, without sacrificing any aspect of a standard travel insurance product. Most UK travellers know they need to get specialist winter sports cover if they are skiing or snowboarding on holiday. Downhill sports come with big risks compared to a family beach holiday, and the areas where these sports are popular rarely have public hospitals.

You’ll see two classic kasbahs and finish in Marrakesh after the seven-day walk. That night we stayed on the edge of the Ouarzazate desert in a luxury Arabian Nights-style riad, built in the style of a ksar and grafted onto an ancient turreted ruin. We spent an afternoon at a delightful rural cooking school that’s training girls from the surrounding villages to teach, grow vegetables, and make cheese and bread. And in the belly of Marrakesh’s medina we met local artisans who are breathing new life into traditional crafts such as embroidery, to help broker incomes for disadvantaged communities. They forage in the mountains for acorns, but they come here at night,” he explained as we skirted the fortified hilltop gardens that supply the village with fruit and vegetables. Additional sport equipment cover can be added on, up to a maximum of £5,600.
